Merry Christmas, for those of you choose to celebrate it, regardless of your faith. :) Hope all is well.

I have successfully (to this point, it is only 7pm, but I think I am safe) avoided what I was afraid would become an annual Christmas injury (though the day before yesterday, I dropped about fifty pounds on my big toe but it's only a little bruised and didn't require crutches or a hospital visit at all). We have had our chicken (I am not a fan of turkey) dinner and exchanged all our presents this morning.

I hate those people who like to tell you money is the root of all that kills, they have never been poor they have never felt the joy of a welfare Christmas..

It was pretty close to a welfare Christmas. Slim pickin's this year, and I was the main present provider, but it didn't bother me at all. It has never been the way it is for some people at Christmas for us. Usually 100$ max spent on each person, no "hot, must have toys", no designer labels, no gift certificates, just thoughtful, affordable, practical presents.

This year, I got dad a cell phone (which I didn't have to pay for now, lol), a 20 Questions game, as well as various inexpensive stocking stuffers (Read: Dollarama). *We* got mom a Dr Scholl's supreme foot spa thingamabobber, I got her a little mini spa (shower gel, bath bomb, etc), as well as her stocking stuffers, and for Shay I got a scrapbooking kit, bras, etc etc. We also each got IOU's to see Rex Goudie and Melissa O'Neil in the spring.

Now.. they were mostly for Shay's benefit, but I must admit that I will enjoy the concert. I will, from this point on, be telling everyone that the only reason I am interested in going to the concert is that Shay would not want to be seen with her 'lame mom', and mom wouldn't want to be at the concert, so I am the next choice. :) Plus it's near Shay's birthday so if we take her out to dinner, it's a double whammy -- Christmas present + really hot birthday present.

And that's about it.

Night all!
